One never knows where one is going to be when an interesting teaching idea lights up one's imagination bulb. Today, for me, it was at the grocery store when I saw soft shelled tacos!
I thought...perfect for teaching fractions. They are soft so they can be folded and unfolded; they can be easily torn or ripped. Further, they are CHEAP!!!! I can't wait to use them. I wonder how many of my students will ask, "Do we get to eat these?'
