GERM BUSTER

We had a student's mom come in and do a presenation with her daughter on being a "GERM BUSTER!" Students were given 'magical potion" to put on their hands and then had to go wash. When they came back we looked under a special light to see if we could see any germs they missed! MANY busted their germs!

Internet Explorer Crash

Just let Internet Explorer crash on you and you quickly learn how much you depend on Technology...very sad, but very true! Thankfully, I was able to reset my settings and download a newer version of Internet Explorer.

B and D assistance

I found a few new resources/tips for students who frequently reverse b and d. First of all, you can make the b with left hand and the d with the right hand or make a cicle with your thumbs and pointer fingers for the b/d on each hand. I also like the tip of reminding a student that a lower case b is in a upper case B and that a d follows a c so make a c and then form it to a d!

Adventure Number 1

We did it! IT was COLD but we sprayed, squirted, created, imagined, and then discussed the science behind painting the snow (how does it work, etc).

Snow Angels

We have received our first snow strom of the school year! Snow storm Angela is here!
I have recess duty today and am in the mood to make a Snow Angel. Over the past 10 years of my recess duty experiences, I have never made one myself, although I have encouraged students to make these beautiful designs in the snow. Perhaps, today is the day I make one!

Get Active

Ahhhh...the winter low activity blues. At this time in the school year, students begin to show signs of becoming tired easily, low energy levels, and the need to bust of the rut of being inactive. To help ward off the winter blues, we get active. How about doing a jumping jack instead of raising one's hand or playing Hopscotch (modified) in the classroom to jump to the right math answer, or instead of writing the answer to a double fact, physically show the answer- 10 high jumps, 14 high 5's etc. HAPPY FITNESS!!!

Manget Fun

Today was our 2nd day in our FORCE unit. We explored the poles of magnets and what attract and repel mean. We had disc, horseshoe, singing, cow, bar, and magnetic wand magnets to conduct experiments with. Many of them conducted experiments that I have not seen in the 10 years I have been teaching...always learning!

WEBCAM

Yippeeee...we got a webcam with a recorder :-) One major upset, I don't have enough memory to install the software for the webcam. At least I can take pictures and use online sites for voice recording. I have so many projects I want to do with this tool :-)
