Cup Stacking

On your mark, get set, CUP STACK!!!!!!  Have you ever tried?  It's the last day of the first term of Summer School and we did tried and set records (of course PR's).  My time-17 seconds playing by the 3-6- 3 rules.  There are many ways to stack cups, depending on which video you watch or who instructs you on how to play.  But, we went to the Speed Stacker's website and found that they have tutorials which are perfect for newbies and beginners.   Here is the link we used speedstacks

Let me know how you do.  Now..on your mark, get set.....

Card Stacking Challenge!

It's Wednesday, June, 26th.  Yesterday we were halfway to Christmas and it was Kid's Day in Green Bay, WI!  Kids were able to get into many children's attractions for free with a Kid's Day bracelet!!  (I was too old...I know...uggggh).

Today was the 8th day of Summer School!  We watched card pyramid and stacking videos on You Tube!  Card Stacking  Card Stacking #2   (on the second one you might want to mute sound)

Okay, I briefed them that we did not need to go that fast or have the "magic" behind the cinematography.  But, they had to have a positive attitude and willing spirits and DID THEY!!!!!!!  I even tried, but ever group   and student was able to surpass my creation.  I only got to two...yes, I was working on staying calm and being positive too!  One student (who had done this at home) was able to use over 30 cards.   BRAVO!
***WHAT A TALENT TO HAVE!

Marshmallow Fun on a Rainy Friday!

It's pouring...hard...do you need any moisture by you????

Today we used marshmallows and toothpicks to sculpt away.  Must I say, I have some creative friends who love to create, imagine, and design.  They did need to contend with extra gooey and sticky cubes, but
that gave them the challenge of defying gravity!

Creativity Abounds!

It's Thursday...the day before summer...and my birthday! (30 something)

SOOOO I'm excited!!!  Is it there something about being too excited for you own birthday?
Plus, summer officially begins tomorrow!  In WI we are expecting a high of 88 degrees.

So it is day four of summer school!  WE ARE FLOWING WITH CREATIVITY!!!  We are using aluminum foil, pipe cleaners, and our imaginations to build and sculpt amazing and profound structures!
I am blown away by their talents!  So much, I jump right in and craft with them!

Transform a Bag!

The second day of Summer School is here!  Fun and Games is taking off with laughter, excitement, and creativity!  Today, we played online Wheel of Fortune and Price is Right!  We spun the wheel and dropped the Plinko chip!  Their faces lit up as they landed on 5,000 and they cringed when bankrupt was barely missed.  One student we write down our scores so we could play tomorrow and asked if we could register and submit our scores.  Just a note, Wheel of Fortune does not have a Bonus Puzzle.
Finally, we took a brown paper bag and transformed it into what our minds led too.  We had swings, fridges, helmets, shopping carts, and the Statue of Liberty.  Unfortunately, we did not get to finish, tomorrow we will do our fashion show!

Can you tell what time it is?

Good Morning!!!!!!

This past week we studied rotation, revolution, and the seasons.  With those concepts we also learned how shadows can help us tell time.  We noticed that in the A.M. our shadows were longer than our shadows in the P.M. part of our school day!  They also noticed the location of the sun was different in the A.M. than in the P.M.  WHY?  Was it because the sun moved?  No, we quickly came to the conclusion because the Earth had rotated!  We also discussed which way the Earth rotates.  I wish we could have come back around 6:00 P.M.  Hmmm...what would our shadows have looked like at that time?

Fraction Sundaes!

Monday is here.  Happy June to you my Blogger Friends!

On Friday we did a sweet lesson incorporating our knowledge on fractions.  Students had to choose the quantity of flavor choices they wanted.  Hmmm how many scoops should be Strawberry?  Should I have any Chocolate?  Now, what about Pumpkin?  Me...all would be Vanilla.  You?

Here is the link for free Ice Cream Fraction and Ice Cream Sundaes on Teachers Pay Teachers!
