Informational Writing-Westward Expansion-Units of Study

Hello!!

This past week we kicked off our Unit of Studies-Informational Writing-Westward Expansion.
Friday, we decided what topics we were going to research and create a book in the App Book Creator.  Many writers/researchers have chosen topics such as Lewis and Clark, Oregon Trail, Gold Rush, Thomas Jefferson, etc.  I am excited to see and read about their adventures as the "travel" west.

Nine is Fine Writing Game!

Hello!!

Today we played Nine is Fine!!  Writers write a word on their paper.  Next, the crinkle up their paper into a ball and launch it into the air.  Everyone gets a new paper and has to write a 9 word sentence using the word.  They then write another new word for the next round and the game continues!!!

We had a writing blast-creative, energizing, and we utilized our 21st Century Skills.

Scoot!

Hello,

Today we played a game called, Scoot with Author's Purpose.  Basically, I put task cards on each child's desk that had a little passage on them.  Each passage then had three to four choices of what the author's purpose was of that passage.  Each student needed to do each task card and moved from desk to desk-scooting to complete all the task cards.
