Garlic is Growing!

We are back in session.  After a surprising early out yesterday, at 11:20 A.M., we are back and eager to have a full day of school!  It has been a long, snowy season in N.E. Wisconsin!  How many days till spring?

Last week, one of my students brought in garlic.  I told her it would be interested to put it in water to see what would happen.  Here you go...1 week's growth:
Now, will it keep growing?  The question for the day?

Here is a link I found on growing garlic that might persuade you even further than my post to try a garlic experiments with your kiddos:

Grandparents' Day

Happy Friday Blogger Friends,
Yesterday we celebrated our Grandparents!  Our classroom was blessed with many grandparents who were eager to learn with us and share experiences with us!  Because yesterday was our 100th Day of school, we had our grandparents complete 100th Day activities with us!  It was interesting to compare our results with our grandparents!

Results from the 100th Day Challenge

HELLO!
Alright, somebody is extremely happy with the meteorologist-me!  I have recess duty and the high is 28 degrees.  Around here, especially this month, this is a HUGE heat wave!

The results are in!  The challenge is over!  We collected 107 cans for our food pantry!  We were very proud of our results/accomplishments!  They were so proud to see the shopping cart filled with nonperishable items for the residents of our village!  Bravo Multi-agers!! (the 200th Day does not exist but, we could collect 200 items).

100th Day Challenge-100 Nonperishable Food Items!

The challenge is on!
Our classroom is challenging the rest of the school to collect 100 food items before we do.  Next week we celebrate the 100th Day of School.  Instead of bringing in 100 items, I thought we should tie our celebration into service work.  Thus, we are collecting 100 nonperishable food items for our local food pantry.  The twist- we are challenging our school to bring in 100 items before us!

Sugar Cube Crystals

Thursday we had Open House!  Our room was a stir of excitement and fun!
We used sugar crystals to make structures to depict our love of our faith and Jesus!  Below are a few of our creations.  Can you guess what our "glue" was?

Tid-Bit of Information!

HELLO MY BLOGGER TEACHER FRIENDS,

Today when students were talking about snow forts and caves as they were getting ready to go to lunch/recess.  Out of the blue, one of my students says, "Hey, don't ever build your house of sand.  You know what happens to your roof, it caves down.  It's a total waste of time."  Their conversations and random comments make me thank the Lord for my calling as a teacher!

Spelling Bee!!!

It's snowing...no folks, that is not the first time I typed that...winter seems to be passing by soooo slowly! Hmmm wonder what the groundhog will say!!!

Yesterday we had our first ABVM Spelling Bee!  First we had the try outs!  Five students from each grade Mutli-age 2-3 thought 5 would earn a spot in the Spelling Bee!

My Multi-agers did so well!  One made it to the remaining 4.
